Pagudpud has been referred to as the taste of heaven on earth. This idiomatic expression briefly depicts the bounteous gifts mother nature had lavishly gifted in bulk to the town of Pagudpud.
Pagudpud is a perfect place for nature lovers, for Pagudpud truly offers scenic spots so strange to any other part of the world. It offers nature's best, so natural and untouched by any artificial influence. For city dwellers, bored of the busy, noisy urban life, a visit to Pagudpud is a worthwhile and refreshing break, for here one will experience a typical rural life.
It is the northernmost town of the province of Ilocos Norte situated along the shore line approximately 40 kilometers from the mouth of the Bolo River to the Ilocos Norte - Cagayan boundary. It is bounded by the north and east by the Cordillera Mountain Range which are like fortresses overlooking the town proper. Pagudpud is the 3rd largest town of Ilocos Norte with a total land area of 19,775 hectares. Out of this total land area, 10,311 are already developed and the remaining 9,464 hectares are forestlands.

It has one of the widest sea ports in Ilocos Norte with its one in a million white beach. These seas are rich with marine products providing fishermen with more than enough source of livelihood.
The main source of income of the populace are: farming, fishing and carpentry. Cottage industries are also common herein such as shell crafts, rattan crafts, bamboo craft, and wood craft. In the northernmost barangays, most housewives are engaged in mat weaving.
Tourism is a fast escalating business here. This is the reason why further development and improvement are being undertaken on the different tourist sports to attract more tourists to visit this place.
Education is a great concern of local executives. At present, every barangay has its own elementary or primary school. There are 4 high schools to accommodate high school students.
Culturally, it is also the concern of the town officials to preserve the cultural values of the Ilocanos. It is for this reason that the town fiestas here are highlighted with activities depicting the cultural heritage of the people.
